We are a family owned business with traditional family values. In 2014 we established our business in Whitchurch, Shropshire. From here we offer a bespoke design & cabinet making service to our clients in Cheshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire & the surrounding counties.
~ So, here's a little bit about us ~
Mark Cabinet Maker & Designer
Mark realised his passion for crafting wood when he was Eleven years old. His woodwork teacher saw in him a talent that flourished throughout his high school career. It was inevitable that when he was ready to leave he had secured himself a three year place at college learning the art of hand crafted furniture.
Whilst in his second year at college he started work with a local cabinet maker and his commercial career began. Working with contemporary designers has given him valuable experience in today's changing markets and trends. He specialises in Kitchens, Bedrooms and Living Room Furniture but is always thrilled to receive an obscure commission to fan the creative flame. His latest project is a Shooting Gun Box for a Range Rover. He says 'working with African Wenge and Snakewood is a privilege'.
Jane Finisher & Designer
Jane is our finisher and designer. She hand paints, sprays, stains, lacquers, oil and finishes the pieces. Her experience in hand painting furniture ensures that every piece is expertly finished to the highest standard. She is also pretty nifty with a Spray Gun! She has an intuitive and artist flair which comes to the fore in the design process and is fanatical about colour. Her empathic nature gives her a clear understanding of our client's aspirations which leads to a productive working relationship right from the start.
We both take it in turns to make the Coffee!
Hannah Health, Safety & Fridge Monitor
Hannah is very important member of the team. If you pay us a visit she will be very pleased to make your acquaintance. Miss Hannah has quite a unique way of appreciating and welcoming visitors. Here she is checking out the strength of the platform next to our Planer Thicknesser before she casts her critical eye over the Panel Saw.
We are very sad to inform all our clients and friends that Miss Hannah has joined her sister Cindy and taken up her retirement over the Rainbow Bridge. We are reliably informed that the pair of them have a rather swanky apartment overlooking the river with a plentiful supply of gravy bones and regular social evenings with their friends who made the journey before them. It was an extremely sorrowful day for us all here at Mark James when she left us and the workshop empty.
