At Mark James Cabinet Makers, everything begins and ends with us. No sales team, no middle managers, and no factory floor. Just two people with a shared dedication to thoughtful design, careful craftsmanship and a belief in doing things properly.
We invite every client to visit the workshop, by appointment only. That way, we can give you our full attention and make sure everything’s peaceful (our dogs are lovely, but they’re not big on strangers, and frankly, they bark at them).
Mark Cabinetmaker & Production Lead
Mark co-founded the company in 2014 after nearly two decades in the trade. Originally trained as a fine furniture maker, he brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in joinery, cabinetmaking, and interior installation. His eye for proportion and practical ingenuity are at the heart of how we turn good ideas into great furniture.
Mark oversees our workshop operations, production scheduling and the finer details of how each commission is built. He’s also the one who quietly makes the impossible, possible — from complex site installs to elegant internal mechanisms.
Away from the workshop, Mark finds balance through canal boating, the creative focus of painting Warhammer miniatures and the calm concentration of a Saturday morning at the clay pigeon ground.
Jane Interior Designer & Finisher
Jane’s role blends technical precision with intuitive design. From cabinetry layout and spatial flow to final paint and polish, she brings a calm clarity to every project. Her work bridges the creative with the practical — whether refining a finish in the spray room or guiding clients through the finer points of proportion, palette, and placement.
With a background in counselling, Jane brings a thoughtful, measured presence to her work with clients, listening carefully, drawing out what really matters and helping translate vision into form. She leads on finishes and materials, ensuring every texture, colour, and surface is considered and beautifully resolved.
Behind the scenes, she manages project milestones and communication, keeping everything smooth, structured and human.
Away from the workshop, Jane finds joy in riding horses, walking her dog and taking in the atmosphere of a good theatre production. She also enjoys time on the canal, at the tiller of her own narrowboat, where ideas settle and the pace slows.
