PicturePainted Living Room Furniture Concept Design.

Our next commission is to hide away a entertainment system behind the left hand cabinet and create extra elegant storage for the right hand side. Keeping a good balance for the room the furniture will be  painted in F &B Pavilion Gray with Solid Oak tops to compliment our clients existing decor.
Norbury, Shropshire.

Fitted into our Clients home.

The Process .........

The first job is to prepare a detailed cutting list for all components
Then on to the solid beech frames for all the cabinets.
Once the frames are made we can start to make the styles and rails for the 5 piece doors.
Each rail has a tennon joint
Here you can see the tennon on the door rail slotting into the groove on the door upright.
Fixed into place.
Putting together a 5 piece door. Here the fielded panel is gently placed in.
After checking that all joints are level the door is clamped.
The door is check to ensure that it is in square then left to dry in the clamps.
Once the doors are out of the clamps the sanding process can begin with flattening each door.
Moving up the grades of grit to a smooth almost polished surface ready to accept the first coat of primer.
First of five coats to be hand painted onto the doors. An oil based primer ensures that the substrate is completely sealed.
Five coats later and all the painted components are on the drying racks, hardening before they are wrapped up.
Three of the cabinets with painted frames. The final coat will be painted when fitted.
Right Hand Side Base Cabinet, set in position with break front. No back yet.
We use solid oak boards that have been planned down to 15 mm for the drawer boxes.
Referring to the cutting lists we cut, and plane the drawer box components before they are dovetailed.
After the drawer box's have been dovetailed and rebated they are put together, lacquered and fitted into the cabinet.
Doors have had their final coats and have been left to harden for four days. They are then hinged and fitted into the the frame aperture.
Just applied the fourth coat of Danish Oil to the Dresser Tops. Each coat adds a real depth and three dimensional quality to the Oak.
 Two very different Commissions.
